Job summary

Alignment Health is seeking a mission-driven Data Scientist to join our Stars team, focusing on Health Outcomes Survey (HOS) within Star Ratings strategy. You will model member-level health trajectories and identify drivers behind HOS performance to guide targeted interventions that influence Star Rating cut points.

Collaborate with Stars, clinical, and care management leaders to build predictive models for HOS measures, analyze item-level data, and deploy end-to-end analytics in VM

Qualifications

• PhD in a quantitative field is required.
• Experience with CMS HOS survey methodology and star ratings.
• Demonstrated experience building end-to-end data science solutions.
• Strong programming and SQL skills; able to work with large longitudinal datasets.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Stars, clinical and care management leaders to translate HOS drivers into analytical solutions.
• Segment members by response likelihood and health trajectories to prioritize outreach.
• Build models predicting risk of HOS composite decline and associated interventions.
• Analyze item-level HOS data to identify drivers of measure performance.
• Develop pipelines for baseline/follow-up cohorts, sampling, fielding, and response rate tracking.
• Validate case-mix adjustments against CMS methodology.
• Version, test, and deploy models using Git and CI/CD in VM environments.
• Partner with Compliance and Legal to ensure CMS-aligned outputs.
• Create dashboards for HOS performance against Star Rating cut points and prior-year trends.
