Ciena is seeking a Data Scientist for Supply Chain Optimisation in the United States. The role applies advanced analytics to global supply chain challenges affecting cost, service, and sustainability outcomes.

You will work across procurement, planning, engineering, operations, and logistics to drive data‑driven decisions. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in data science or optimization, strong Python and SQL skills, and experience with OR‑Tools, Pyomo or Gurobi.

Qualifications

• Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, CS, Engineering, or related quantitative discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or optimization roles, including exposure to supply chain domains.
• Proficiency in Python for analytical and modeling solutions.
• Experience applying ML and statistical modeling in supply chain contexts.
• Experience with OR-Tools, Pyomo, or Gurobi.
• Proficiency with SQL for data manipulation and analysis.
• Ability to translate business problems into analytical approaches that deliver outcomes.

Responsabilités

• Design and implement optimization models for network design, inventory positioning, demand forecasting, and transportation efficiency.
• Apply analytics to improve cost, service levels, and sustainability.
• Cleanse and transform large datasets to generate actionable insights.
• Develop production-ready algorithms using optimization, ML, and statistics.
• Implement analytical solutions in Python or similar languages.
• Build dashboards and outputs to communicate insights to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to ensure scalable solutions.
