Job summary

Florida Power & Light (FPLES) seeks a data scientist to lead end-to-end data science efforts within the FPLO organization. The role focuses on developing ML models, optimization methods, and Finance PowerBI reporting to analyze revenues, expenses and KPIs, enabling FPLO product lines to actively manage operations.

The ideal candidate will compile financial data from multiple sources for comprehensive reports, work with business stakeholders, and contribute to self-service analytics and data

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a highly quantitative field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Econometrics, Mathematics, Financial Engineering)
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python (or R) for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis
• Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline
• Certified Power BI Data Analyst

Responsibilities

• Develops machine learning, optimization and other modeling solutions
• Prepares comprehensive documented observations, analyses and interpretations of results including technical reports, summaries and quantitative analyses
• Works with a variety of datasets, including timeseries data and big data requiring analysis on distributed computing platforms
• Writes software in R, Python or similar languages and contributes code to product development teams
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
• Creates and maintains financial reports on the FPLO Finance PowerBI dashboard
• Supports product teams to create and execute channel and product growth strategy through the creation and ongoing maintenance of financial reports and analytics
• Enables others to perform self-service analytics
• Develops an understanding of and positively impacts the financial performance of product lines
