Job summary

NextEra Energy is seeking a Data Scientist to lead end-to-end data science efforts within the FPLO organization in West Palm Beach, FL. You will develop ML models, optimization techniques, and financial reporting dashboards to analyze revenues, expenses, and KPIs, enabling informed business decisions.

You will collaborate with stakeholders to define financial requirements and compile data from diverse sources for comprehensive reports on the FPLES Finance PowerBI dashboard.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a highly quantitative field such as Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Econometrics, Mathematics, Financial Engineering, or related discipline.
• 4+ years of experience in data science, quantitative analysis, or related role.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python (or R) for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
• Certified Power BI Data Analyst.

Responsibilities

• Develops machine learning, optimization and other modeling solutions.
• Creates and maintains numerous financial reports on the FPLO Finance PowerBI dashboard.
• Supports product teams to create and execute channel and product growth strategy through financial reports and analytics.
• Works with big data and distributed computing platforms.
• Prepares comprehensive documented observations, analyses, and interpretations of results, including technical reports, summaries, and quantitative analyses.
• Delivers actionable insights by working with available data and applying domain expertise.

• Develops an understanding of and positively impacts the financial performance of product lines.

Position Specific Description

This position is responsible for leading end-to-end data science efforts within the FPL Offerings (FPLO) organization. The Data Scientist will support various FPLO product lines by developing algorithms, modeling techniques, and optimization methods for analyzing and reporting financial information. The role involves designing and implementing advanced statistical and machine learning models to analyze revenues, expenses, and other key performance indicators, allowing the business lines to actively manage operations. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders to identify and develop financial requirements.
The successful candidate must be proficient in compiling and aggregating financial data from various sources to develop comprehensive financial reports. This role is also responsible for the creation and maintenance of financial reports on the FPLES Finance PowerBI dashboard. This role requires substantial experience with financial concepts, machine learning, optimization, statistics, and tools designed for data extraction, manipulation and analysis.

The Ideal candidate will have the following experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in a highly quantitative field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Econometrics, Mathematics, Financial Engineering, or a related discipline)
• 4+ years of experience in data science, quantitative analysis, or a related role
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python (or R) for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis
• Certified Power BI Data Analyst

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Develops machine learning, optimization and other modeling solutions
• Prepares comprehensive documented observations, analyses and interpretations of results including technical reports, summaries, protocols and quantitative analyses
• Works with a variety of datasets, including timeseries data and "big data" requiring analysis on distributed computing platforms
• Writes software in R, Python or similar languages and contributes code to product development teams
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
