Job summary

Northramp is seeking a Data Scientist to advance its FedRAMP-focused cloud modernization work. You will design LookML dashboards and BI models, build ML solutions, and collaborate with government stakeholders to translate mission needs into measurable analytics.

Strong emphasis on data quality, reproducibility, and governance under federal guidelines. The role spans statistical analysis, ML, and data visualization, using BigQuery and Looker as primary platforms.

Qualifications

• 3 to 6 years of progressive, hands-on experience in data science or applied analytics with production model deployment experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related quantitative field.
• Proficiency in Python for data science (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, statsmodels) and advanced SQL for transformation and analytics.
• Hands-on expertise with Looker and LookML, including scalable semantic models and PDTs; strong development, testing, and version-control practices.
• Experience developing, training, validating, tuning, and deploying machine learning models using Vertex AI, SageMaker, or Azure ML.
• Familiarity with MLOps principles: model versioning and experiment tracking.
• Understanding of federal AI governance guidance and FedRAMP data handling requirements.
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain DHS suitability / Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain LookML data models, Looks, and dashboards that deliver actionable BI to stakeholders.
• Build and deploy machine learning models for classification, prediction, anomaly detection, and NLP use cases using Python and cloud services.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis, statistical modeling, and hypothesis testing to surface patterns and insights.
• Develop and maintain feature engineering pipelines, model training workflows, and serving infra integrated with cloud data platforms and BigQuery.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers to define data requirements and ensure analytical datasets meet quality standards.
• Translate mission requirements into analytical problem definitions and measurable KPIs with government stakeholders.
• Implement responsible AI practices - explainability, bias assessment, and documentation for governance.
• Build and maintain automated reporting and alerting workflows for operational metrics and anomalies.
• Document data science methodologies, validation results, and performance metrics for ATO/audit needs.
• Mentor junior analysts and promote data-driven practices across the team.
