At GDIT, people are our differentiator. GDIT Technology Shared Services (TSS) is seeking a Data Scientist Advisor to transform how government agencies use data. Our work depends on a Data Scientist Advisor joining our team to work on artificial intelligence solutions supporting the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

HOW THE DATA SCIENTIST ADVISOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Accelerate our work by integrating advanced AI capabilities across our suite
  • Design and implement AI solutions for automated program accomplishment tracking and reporting, including intelligent classification systems and proactive knowledge management
  • Implement generative AI (GenAI) with large language models (LLMs) and retrieval augmented generation (RAG) to deliver precise, data-driven responses
  • Build an agentic framework enabling service ticket management, account administration, and intelligent journey orchestration

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Required:

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience as a data scientist in AI/ML with proven track record of deploying production solutions
  • Natural language processing (NLP) expertise including text classification, categorization, and query processing
  • Experience with generative AI (GenAI) using large language models (LLMs)
  • Expertise in AI/ML cloud technologies on AWS, including Bedrock, Lambda, and SageMaker
  • Strong foundation in machine learning, statistical analysis, and experimental design with both quantitative and qualitative data
  • Proficiency with Python data science stack (Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow) and SQL
  • Experience in forecasting, anomaly detection, clustering, and A/B testing methodologies
  • Experience with ServiceNow platform integration, APIs, and enterprise system architecture
  • Strong business communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts to stakeholders and leadership

Preferred:

  • Experience fine-tuning LLMs and implementing agentic frameworks for specific use cases
  • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow CMDB, Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM), and GovCommunityCloud environment
  • Background in automated content classification, metadata management, and knowledge management systems
  • Advanced data visualization and dashboard development using Python, Power BI, Tableau, ServiceNow, or QuickSight
  • Data engineering experience with ETL processes, data pipelines, and database management
  • Government contracting experience and familiarity with federal compliance requirements
  • Experience integrating AI solutions with legacy enterprise systems and orchestration platforms

The likely salary range for this position is $127,500 - $172,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
