Job summary

Blu Omega LLC in Washington, DC, onsite, seeks a Data Scientist to support a federal program focused on financial data analysis. You will process, analyze, and visualize complex datasets to support mission objectives within a government environment.

Responsibilities include data retrieval, cleansing, and modeling using statistical and network analysis. You will communicate findings to senior leadership and help inform investigations and compliance efforts.

Qualifications

  • Experience with large-scale financial data environments including transactional data (SWIFT, CHIPS)
  • Knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act data (SARs, CTRs, 8300)
  • Proficiency with Python and data science stack (NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn)
  • Strong statistical methods and data analysis capabilities
  • Ability to derive actionable insights from large datasets

  • Perform entity resolution and data cleansing for data quality

Data Scientist

Washington, DC / Onsite

Blu Omega is seeking a Data Scientist to support a federal program focused on financial data analysis. This role operates within a government environment and is responsible for processing, analyzing, and visualizing complex financial datasets to support mission objectives. The position requires experience working with large-scale data environments, particularly those involving financial transactions and mission-critical information.

Program Overview

A federal agency manages financial data analysis to ensure compliance, detect suspicious activity, and support financial investigations.

Key Details

Location: Washington, DC

Clearance: Active Top Secret/SCI clearance required

Responsibilities
  • Retrieve, process, and analyze financial data sets, including Bank Secrecy Act data and related transaction information.
  • Perform entity resolution and data cleansing to ensure data quality and integrity across large datasets.
  • Develop and implement analytical models and algorithms using quantitative techniques such as statistical sampling, regression analysis, link analysis, geospatial analysis, social network analysis, and data mining.
  • Use agency tools and platforms to query, filter, and visualize data using search capabilities like BSA Search and Transaction Grid Search.
  • Create custom datasets, queries, and code to support analytical workflows and reporting needs.
  • Communicate project progress, analytical findings, and recommendations clearly to senior management and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience working with large-scale financial data environments, including transactional data from SWIFT, CHIPS, and book transfer systems.
  • Knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act data, including SARs, CTRs, and Form 8300 filings.
  • Proficiency with Python, Jupyter Notebook, R, NumPy, pandas, and scikit-learn.
  • Strong foundation in statistical methods and data analysis techniques.
  • Ability to analyze large datasets to identify trends and patterns and deliver actionable insights.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in data mapping, cleansing, and data validation.
  • Understanding of international bank wire transfer formats, including SWIFT, CHIPS, and book transfer systems.
  • Experience communicating analytical results to senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
Compensation

Salary Range: $120,000.00 - $180,000.00

Final compensation is based on technical skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance.
