Job description

Location : Oakland, CA (The role is Remote with 1-2 quarterly meetings per year)

Duration : 11 Months with possible extension

Description : TOP THINGS :

1. Works with large data sets, has SQL, Python experience
2. Produces data visualization, Power BI or Tableau
3. Understands Data Science from a modeling perspective, including scenario analysis and data modeling
4. Utility Experience (understanding this may be unlikely)

Client laptop will be provided for candidates within the client's service territory.

Position Summary :

We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist in the Ops Support Data & Analytics team who will deliver strong execution of data science initiatives. Working with the product team, this Data Scientist will translate business needs into advanced analytics and data models. Responsibilities include model selection, training data set identification, model building, training, evaluation, and delivering insights regularly.

Position Responsibilities :

1. Lead development of high-complexity models and training sets
2. Execute and implement data science models hands-on
3. Translate business analysis needs into well-defined data science problems, select appropriate models, and communicate results to stakeholders
4. Prioritize work to maximize operational impact of analytics
5. Balance trade-offs among analytics value, modeling methods, and technologies with a bias toward action
6. Perform analysis on complex data models, prepare customized reports, and present recommendations

Qualifications :

• Bachelor's Degree in Econometrics, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Sciences, Statistics, or related discipline, or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of relevant experience, or Master's Degree with 6+ years of experience, including 3+ years in data modeling

Desired Skills :

• Experience with Python, R, Scala, SQL
• Experience with data science notebooks (Jupyter, Zeppelin, etc.)
• Experience with AWS, Azure, cloud computing technologies
• Energy industry experience
• Designing efficient data science workflows and database architecture
• Experience with forecasting, Bayesian networks, and graph analytics
