Job summary

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4–6 years of related experience.
  • Experience designing measurement frameworks using test-and-control methodologies.
  • Experience querying and uncovering insights from healthcare claims data.
  • Apply data science and clustering techniques to segment audiences and predict behavior.
  • Hands-on Python for data cleaning, analysis, and modeling.
  • Advanced SQL to write complex queries across large datasets.
  • Experience with data visualization to present findings to stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with web analytics platforms (GA/Adobe Analytics).
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets capabilities.
  • BS/MS degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of new machine learning and advanced analytics to support Haymarket's growth.
  • Design and implement measurement studies using test-and-control methods to evaluate campaign effectiveness.
  • Analyze large healthcare, media, and prescription datasets to generate actionable client insights.
  • Translate insights into stories for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Build ML models to improve audience segmentation, content optimization, and email performance.
  • Collaborate with BI and Development teams to deploy solutions and create data visualizations.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify business challenges and gain buy-in for scalable analytics.
  • Serve as an internal team leader for data science within the analytics group.

Haymarket Media, Inc. is seeking a Data Scientist to join the Analytics team. This position is located in our New York City office on a hybrid work schedule; three (3) days in office depending on business needs.

Job Overview

Reporting to the Senior Director, Analytics, this role will design and implement sophisticated measurement methodologies to quantify the impact of our advertising campaigns, and translate insights into clear recommendations for clients and internal stakeholders. Additionally, the Data Scientist will be responsible for building statistical models and using advanced analytics to optimize internal business strategies and forecast trends. They will enhance decision‑making processes across the organization through their ability to package complex insights into a clear and actionable story.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of new machine learning and advanced analytics to be deployed across Haymarket to support the growth of the business
  • Design and implement measurement studies using exposed vs control methodologies to evaluate the effectiveness of pharmaceutical advertising campaigns, validating insights through statistical testing
  • Analyze large healthcare, media, and prescription datasets to generate actionable insights for pharmaceutical clients and internal stakeholders
  • Translate insights into clear stories tailored to both technical and non‑technical audiences
  • Build machine learning models to improve audience segmentation, content optimization, and email performance
  • Collaborate with Business Intelligence and Development teams to deploy solutions, creating data visualizations that improve reporting and understanding of the data
  • Work with cross‑functional teams to identify business challenges and secure business buy‑in on the development of scalable analytics solutions
  • Serve as an internal team leader for data science, being a technical resource for the larger analytics team
Skills and Requirements
  • Minimum of 4–6 years of related experience
  • Past experience designing and building measurement frameworks using test‑and‑control methodologies to quantify campaign performance
  • Experience querying and uncovering insights from healthcare claims data
  • Demonstrated ability in applying data science and clustering techniques to segment audiences and predict user behavior
  • Hands‑on experience leveraging Python to clean and analyze large datasets, perform statistical analysis, and build predictive models
  • Advanced SQL knowledge with the ability to write complex queries across large, high‑dimensional datasets
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (Looker, PowerBI, etc.) to translate data into compelling, narrative‑driven dashboards for stakeholders
  • Strong reporting and QA skills with attention to detail and accuracy, including the ability to identify anomalies and extreme outliers in large datasets
  • Familiarity with web analytics platforms, including Google Analytics and/or Adobe Analytics
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets capabilities
  • Ability to think creatively about solutions to complex, ambiguous data problems
  • BS/MS degree in a related field (or equivalent training and experience)
