Job summary

Pangea, a leading global commodity trading firm, is seeking a Data Scientist focused on Natural Gas to join its trading analytics function in Houston. You will work closely with the Natural Gas trading desk to apply data science, AI and quantitative analysis to understand US gas markets and identify actionable trading opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Partner directly with Natural Gas traders to understand market dynamics, trading strategies and analytical requirements.
• Develop data-driven models and analytical frameworks to assess supply, demand, flows, storage, production, weather and other fundamental drivers of the US gas market.
• Apply Data Science, Machine Learning and AI techniques to large and complex datasets.
• Build predictive models and tools to identify market signals, relationships and trading opportunities.
• Work with alternative and non-traditional datasets to generate differentiated insights for the trading desk.
• Develop and improve quantitative approaches to technical and fundamental analysis of natural gas markets.
• Translate complex analytical outputs into clear, commercially relevant insights that traders can use in their decision-making.
• Collaborate with traders, quantitative analysts, data engineers and technology teams to take ideas from research through to production.
• Continuously explore new applications of Generative AI, Machine Learning and automation within commodity trading.

A leading global commodity trading firm is looking to hire a Data Scientist focused on Natural Gas to join its growing trading analytics function in Houston.

This is a highly commercial, trading-facing role sitting close to the Natural Gas trading desk, where you will combine Data Science, AI and quantitative analysis to improve the firm's understanding of physical gas markets and identify actionable trading opportunities.

You will work at the intersection of fundamental market analysis, data and technology, developing models and analytical tools that help traders make better-informed decisions across the US natural gas market.
