Job summary

A leading energy consultancy in New York is seeking a candidate with 3–5 years of experience in natural gas commodities analysis. You will build regional supply-demand models, enhance forecasts, and develop tools to support trading strategies. A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a quantitative field is required, along with strong quantitative skills and proficiency in Python. This role offers the chance to work closely with traders and validate trading strategies before market implementation.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in commodities fundamental analysis, preferably in natural gas.
  • Strong quantitative skills in statistics or applied mathematics.
  • Confident in Python for data handling and modeling.

Job description

What you’ll do
  • You build and maintain regional quantitative supply‑demand models for North American natural gas.
  • You develop and continuously improve production, storage, and demand forecasts.
  • You create analysis and tools that support and fine‑tune algorithmic trading strategies in close collaboration with traders and software developers.
  • You run back‑testing and validation of trading strategies to ensure models are robust before they hit the market.
  • You ensure high quality and reliability of the data feeding our trading and forecasting models.
What you bring
  • 3–5 years of experience within commodities fundamental analysis, ideally in natural gas.
  • Per a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or another quantitative field.
  • A strong quantitative toolbox within statistics, econometrics, data science, or applied mathematics.
  • A confident Python user, comfortable working with data and models in production.
