Job summary

SignalPET is transforming veterinary medicine with AI, computer vision, ML, and LLMs to help veterinarians diagnose faster and more accurately. As a Data Scientist, you’ll work on real-world AI challenges and collaborate with engineers, researchers, and veterinary experts to advance medical imaging, data analytics, and AI infrastructure.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (CS, math, stats, etc).
  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Understanding of statistics and machine learning fundamentals.
  • Ability to learn quickly and solve unfamiliar problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze large clinical, operational, textual, and imaging datasets to derive insights.
  • Build reports, dashboards, and visualizations to guide decisions.
  • Train, evaluate, and improve computer vision and LLM models.
  • Investigate model performance, bias, and failure patterns.
  • Design experiments to compare models, prompts, datasets, and training strategies.

  • Assist with dataset creation, annotation strategies, and quality validation.
  • Support model training, fine-tuning, and deployment improvements.
  • Build tools to streamline AI development and testing.

What You’ll Do

As a Data Scientist, you’ll play a key role throughout the AI development lifecycle by:

  • Analyzing large clinical, operational, textual, and medical imaging datasets to uncover meaningful insights.
  • Building reports, dashboards, and visualizations that guide product, research, and medical decisions.
  • Training, evaluating, and improving computer vision and large language models.
  • Investigating model performance, including false positives, false negatives, hallucinations, bias, and failure patterns.
  • Designing experiments to compare models, prompts, datasets, and training strategies.
  • Developing and optimizing prompts for LLM-powered applications.
  • Working on structured information extraction, summarization, classification, and medical text generation.
  • Assisting with dataset creation, annotation strategies, quality validation, and data preparation.
  • Supporting model training, fine-tuning, and continuous improvement.
  • Building tools that improve AI development, testing, and deployment.
  • Collaborating closely with engineers, researchers, product teams, and veterinary experts.
  • Presenting findings, recommendations, and technical insights in a clear, actionable manner.
  • Taking ownership of projects from concept through implementation.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or another quantitative discipline.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Understanding of statistics and machine learning fundamentals.
  • Ability to learn quickly and solve unfamiliar problems independently.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Bonus Points If You Have Experience With

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • 1–3 years of industry, research, internship, or personal project experience.
