Job summary

Shipt, Inc. is seeking a Data Scientist focused on geospatial intelligence to advance location-based models for last-mile logistics. You’ll handle GPS traces, routing signals, and geospatial datasets, turning insights into operational systems.

You will collaborate with product managers, logistic operators, and software engineers to deploy scalable solutions. The role requires advanced degree in quantitative field and hands-on experience with Python ML libraries and distributed data platforms.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, CS, or other quantitative field.
• Experience building production ML models deployed in real-world systems.
• Experience with geospatial data (GPS traces, spatial indexing, routing).
• Strong understanding of predictive modeling, experimentation & causal inference.
• Strong Python skills with pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Ability to work with large datasets and distributed systems (Spark, BigQuery, Snowflake).

Impact As a Data Scientist specializing in geospatial intelligence, you will help power the next generation of final-mile logistics. This role will develop advanced models and data systems that leverage location, routing, traffic, and spatial signals to improve delivery success, reduce operational costs, and create a better experience for customers and drivers. In this role you will work with large-scale GPS traces, mapping data and geospatial datasets. You will design experiments and translate complex geospatial insights into actionable operational decisions.

Pay Range: $76,100- $130,000

Please note that the salary range above is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.

Required Work Arrangement

Hybrid roles in Birmingham, AL typically work in-office at least 2 days per week, with core in-office days on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Hybrid roles in Minneapolis, MN typically work in-office at least 1 day per week on either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.

Hybrid roles in San Francisco, CA typically work in-office at least 1 day per week between Monday and Thursday.
