Job summary

Shipt is seeking a Data Scientist specializing in geospatial intelligence to power next-gen final-mile logistics. You will develop advanced models and data systems leveraging location, routing, traffic, and spatial signals to improve delivery success and reduce costs.

You will work with large-scale GPS traces, mapping data, and geospatial datasets, collaborating with product, managers, logistic operators and software engineers to deploy models into real-world systems and drive impactful

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or other quantitative fields.
• Experience building production ML models deployed in real-world systems.
• Experience with geospatial data (GPS traces, spatial indexing, or routing).
• Strong understanding of predictive modeling, feature engineering, experimentation and causal inference.
• Strong Python skills with libraries such as pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Ability to work with large datasets and distributed systems (Spark, BigQuery, Snowflake).

Impact

As a Data Scientist specializing in geospatial intelligence, you will help power the next generation of final-mile logistics. This role will develop advanced models and data systems that leverage location, routing, traffic, and spatial signals to improve delivery success, reduce operational costs, and create a better experience for customers and drivers.

In this role you will work with large-scale GPS traces, mapping data and geospatial datasets. You will collaborate with product, managers, logistic operators and software engineers to turn models into real-world systems. You will design experiments and translate complex geospatial insights into actionable operational decisions.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful

• MS or PhD in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or other quantitative fields

Pay Range: $76,100- $130,000

Please note that the salary range above is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.

Work Arrangement

• Hybrid roles in Birmingham, AL typically work in-office at least 2 days per week, with core in-office days on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
• Hybrid roles in Minneapolis, MN typically work in-office at least 1 day per week on either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.
• Hybrid roles in San Francisco, CA typically work in-office at least 1 day per week between Monday and Thursday.
