Job summary

Gilbane Building Company seeks a Data Science Manager to lead a team applying advanced analytics, statistics, ML, and AI to solve complex business problems and move models into production. You’ll partner with stakeholders to translate insights into actionable recommendations and foster an inclusive, high-performing team.

You’ll guide technical direction, governance, and adoption while aligning analytics with Gilbane’s strategy and client needs across multiple project sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field required; master's strongly preferred in statistics, data science, economics, psychology (IO/industrial), biometrics, or related fields.
• PhD preferred for senior leadership and research excellence.
• Minimum 5 years as a Data Scientist and 2+ years in people management.

Responsibilities

• Leads, coaches, and develops data scientists through direction, guidance, performance feedback, and growth support.
• Sets standards for analytical quality, modeling, and responsible AI use.
• Guides statistical analysis, predictive modeling, feature engineering, data mining, and research methods to solve problems.
• Reviews model assumptions, feature development, and results for reliability and interpretability.
• Prioritizes portfolio by business value, feasibility, and data quality.
• Builds trusted relationships with business leaders, SMEs, Data Engineering, BI, and IT.
• Translates business questions into scoped analytical problems with measurable outcomes.
• Educates stakeholders and partners with SMEs to share analytics knowledge and drive adoption.
• Communicates insights and recommendations to executives and non-technical audiences.
