Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Data Scientist leadership role to guide a team delivering predictive models across credit risk and portfolio analytics. You will own the roadmap, drive end-to-end model development, and ensure production-ready solutions using open-source tools and cloud platforms.

You will lead cross-functional collaboration, translate complex data work into business impact, and advance model development with a focus on speed and long-term value for customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related) plus 7 years of data analytics experience
• Master's Degree in a quantitative field or MBA with quantitative concentration plus 5 years of data analytics experience
• PhD in a quantitative field plus 2 years of data analytics experience
• At least 2 years of experience leveraging open source programming languages for large scale data analysis
• At least 2 years of experience working with machine learning
• At least 2 years of experience utilizing relational databases

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of specialists delivering models predicting credit risk, account usage, and portfolio financials
• Own the team's strategic roadmap and project management for end-to-end model development
• Oversee delivery of production-ready models with focus on speed and impact, combining traditional ML with AI-based development
• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver a product customers love
• Leverage Python, Conda, AWS, H2O, Spark to reveal insights from large datasets
• Build ML models through all development phases: design, training, evaluation, validation, implementation
• Translate complex work into tangible business goals
