Merck & Co., Inc., Rahway, NJ, USA invites applications for the 2027 Future Talent Program - Data Science Intern. The 10–12 week role in our Quantitative Biosciences division offers hands-on data analysis, ML model development, and data pipeline projects to support drug discovery.

Applicants must be enrolled in a data science/CS-related degree, with substantial computational coursework, 2+ years toward BS/BA or 1 year toward a Master/PhD, strong communication, and availability May/June 2027.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a full-time degree program in Data Science, CS, or related bioscience with substantial computational coursework.
• Completed at least 2 years toward BS/BA or 1 year toward master's/PhD by start of internship.
• Excellent communication skills and a track record of strong academic achievement.

Responsibilities

• Perform statistical analyses of data related to basic drug research.
• Develop data pipelines to move and analyze diverse biological data sources.
• Apply computational methods and ML models to foundational data sets for drug discovery.
• Wrangle structured and unstructured data to guide translational strategies.
• Design automated data connectors between enterprise databases and reporting platforms.
