Job summary

The Hartford is offering an 11-week Data Science Summer Internship beginning in May 2027 to prepare you for a challenging data science career. As a Data Scientist Intern, you will build ML/AI solutions across strategic initiatives and present results to senior leaders.

The program provides on-the-job training in insurance, cloud environments, and modeling techniques, with a hybrid in-office schedule in Charlotte (Tue–Thu) and remote flexibility Mon–Fri.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Master’s or Ph.D. in a quantitative field.
• Experience with statistical modeling and ML using Python.
• Strong written and verbal communication for non-technical audiences.
• Familiarity with cloud AI tooling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop ML/AI solutions across strategic initiatives.
• Present to senior Data Science leaders and teammates.
• Identify new data sources and analytical techniques.
• Build long-term tools to evolve business insights.
• Translate data-driven results into actionable recommendations.
