Job summary

SMBC is undergoing a digital transformation to modernize its enterprise data platform. The team seeks a Data Governance / Data Quality Engineer to design and implement governance, quality, and lineage solutions using Collibra and Azure-based platforms across Reference data, Market data, and Operational data.

You will collaborate with Data Strategy, Business, and Data Engineering teams to deliver scalable, governed data solutions and ensure trusted data across critical data domains.

Qualifications

• Experience in data governance and data quality initiatives.
• Familiarity with Collibra governance framework and data catalogs.
• Strong ability to perform data profiling and issue analysis using SQL.
• Knowledge of metadata management and data lineage concepts.
• Experience with Azure data services such as ADF, Databricks, and Data Lake.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain data quality rules using Collibra DQ.
• Implement and manage data governance assets (business glossary, data catalog, stewardship workflows).
• Support data lineage mapping across systems and pipelines.
• Perform data profiling, validation, and issue analysis using SQL.
• Integrate Collibra with Azure data platform (ADF, Databricks, Data Lake).
• Develop automation and utilities using Python or similar languages.
• Collaborate with Data Owners and Engineers to define and enforce DQ controls.
• Ensure code promotion using CI/CD, version control (Git), and deployment best practices.
• Maintain documentation and governance artifacts in Confluence and repositories.

SMBC is undergoing a digital transformation to modernize its enterprise data platform across Capital Markets and Nikko Securities. As part of this initiative, we are seeking an experienced Data Governance / Data Quality Engineer to support the design and implementation of data governance, data quality, and lineage solutions using Collibra and Azure-based platforms.

This role will work closely with Data Strategy, Business, and Data Engineering teams to ensure high-quality, governed, and trusted data across key domains such as Reference data, Market data and Operational data.

Role Objectives

• Support enterprise data governance and data quality initiatives across critical data domains
• Implement and enhance Collibra-based governance and DQ capabilities
• Ensure data quality, lineage, and metadata management are embedded into the data platform
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, governed data solutions
