Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Data Protection Specialist to strengthen information security and data privacy across IT and business units. You will drive control auditing, governance, and the responsible use of AI to improve efficiency and maturity of data protection processes.

Responsibilities include coordinating with leaders, conducting control assessments, and engaging vendors. A strong background in security frameworks, policy writing, and cross‑functional collaboration is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience in Information Security, Data Privacy, or IT Compliance.
• Familiarity with information security control frameworks (NIST CSF, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, etc.).
• Experience in global Data Privacy regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA).
• Experience aligning and testing information security controls and frameworks.
• Experience writing policies and procedures.
• Experience in information security or data privacy in a large, global organization.
• Strong project management, collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain relationships with IT and business leaders to understand goals and requirements.
• Conduct assessments of controls to ensure data protection is in place.
• Leverage AI to analyze data and automate control assurance.
• Engage third-party vendors to assess security posture and controls.
• Develop knowledge of AbbVie Information Security policies and implementation.
• Provide information security guidance to business leaders and IT owners.
• Report potential data privacy risks and remediation plans to management.
• Act as point of contact for information security matters within AbbVie’s ecosystem.
• Review policies and practices to ensure ongoing applicability and improvements.
