Job summary

Evans Transportation is seeking a data/BI professional to own the data and systems layer connecting Account Management and Carrier Procurement. The role will replace patchwork spreadsheets with fast, accurate, self-serve reporting, dashboards, and automated workflows.

You will design data pipelines, automate repeat tasks, and lead the end-to-end data initiative across two functions. This position blends data/BI and pricing, with growth as the organization expands.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a data, reporting, or analytics role with supply chain exposure.
• Proven ability to build a dashboard, scorecard, or reporting system from scratch.
• Comfortable pulling and blending data from multiple systems into one source of truth.

Responsibilities

• Consolidate today’s scattered manual reports and exports into standing, repeatable pulls for Account Management and Carrier Procurement
• Design how data flows between MercuryGate, the DAT integration, Excel tools, and any BI layer, and keep it documented
• Identify recurring manual work and build automation or AI-assisted workflows to remove it
• Consolidate the department’s live dashboards into a single, current, trusted set
• Track, prioritize, and close incoming data and reporting requests from Account Management, Carrier Procurement, and Yield
• Improve the waterfall and auto-tendering workflow to carriers, and clean up contract vs. spot labeling inside the TMS
• Blend Evans’ different data sources into a single view, and help build a new truckload rating engine
• Partner with leadership to understand data needs before building it
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

THE POSTITION

This role owns the data and systems layer that connects Evans' Account Management and Carrier Procurement teams. Today, a lot of that work lives in scattered spreadsheets, one-off exports, and manual pulls. This person will replace that patchwork with reporting, dashboards, and workflows that are fast, accurate, and self-serve.

We're not looking for someone who simply runs reports on request. We need someone who can design the system behind the report: fetch the data, build the pipeline, automate the repeat work, and free up the people who are doing this by hand today.

This role intentionally blends two functions that split into separate teams at larger brokerages: data/BI and pricing. At Evans' current scale, one person owns both end to end. As we grow, this role is positioned to lead whichever side of that split we build out first.

Requirements

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Consolidate today’s scattered manual reports and exports into standing, repeatable pulls for Account Management and Carrier Procurement
• Design how data flows between MercuryGate, the DAT integration, Excel tools, and any BI layer, and keep it documented
• Identify recurring manual work (data pulls, report assembly, status updates) and build the automation or AI-assisted workflows to remove it
• Consolidate the department’s live dashboards into a single, current, trusted set
• Track, prioritize, and close incoming data and reporting requests from Account Management, Carrier Procurement, and Yield
• Improve the waterfall and auto-tendering workflow to carriers, and clean up contract vs. spot labeling inside the TMS
• Blend Evans’ different data sources (TMS, market rate data, carrier data) into a single view, and help build a new truckload rating engine from that foundation
• Partner with Account Management, Carrier Procurement, and Yield leadership to understand what they need from the data before building it

Minimum Qualifications And Requirements

Experience / Training: 2+ years in a data, reporting, or analytics role, ideally with supply chain, procurement, or transportation exposure. Proven ability to build a dashboard, scorecard, or reporting system from scratch and get people to actually use it. Comfortable pulling and blending data from multiple systems (TMS, Excel exports, external data feeds) into one clean source of truth.

Licenses / Certifications: n/a

Technology / Equipment: Strong Excel/Power BI (or similar BI tool) skills; comfortable working inside a TMS (e.g., MercuryGate) and its underlying data structures.

Preferred Qualifications And Requirements

Experience / Training: Experience standardizing or documenting a process so it runs the same way every time, for everyone. Track record of finding and fixing the root cause of a recurring data or process problem, not just patching it. Comfortable with AI and automation tools, and actively looks for ways to use them to cut manual work. Strong written communication, able to explain a number or a system to someone non-technical. Detail-oriented and comfortable owning the accuracy of numbers other people make decisions from. Self-directed: comfortable being handed a messy, only partly defined problem and building the system to solve it.
