Job summary

SimpliSafe is seeking a Senior Manager, Data Platform Engineering to lead the team that builds, operates, and evolves our data platform as part of a multi-quarter lakehouse initiative. You will manage the current platform, partner with vendors to implement the new one, and collaborate with the Data Engineering team to deprecate legacy infrastructure.

You’ll stay hands-on enough to review designs and estimates, while guiding architecture, standards, and governance for the platform’s success.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data platform, data engineering, or infrastructure engineering.
• 5+ years managing engineering teams with growth of technical leadership.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the platform engineering team across data platforms.
• Hire, coach, and performance-manage engineers and the Data Architect.
• Own the platform roadmap and translate architecture into plan.
• Own core platform environments, CI/CD, and automation patterns.
• Own ingestion and integration across batch, replication, CDC, and API.
• Own reliability, observability, incident response, and on-call practices.
• Own platform cost, performance, and optimization with Finance & Infra.
• Set architecture direction with the Data Architect while ensuring governance.
• Define acceptance criteria for partner work and knowledge transfer.
• Lead migration off legacy estate to new data platform.
