Job summary

Grassroots Carbon is hiring a Data Platform Engineer to build and operate the core data infrastructure powering our soil carbon modeling work and PastureMap grazing management platform. You will integrate soil measurements, satellite imagery, ranch records, and partner data through a unified database to ensure reliable access across the company.

As the first dedicated owner of our data platform, you will drive data ingestion, dataset accessibility, and production pipeline architecture, replacing

Qualifications

5+ years designing and operating production data systems.
Strong Python and SQL with maintainable code and tests.
Production orchestration and scheduling with CI/CD experience.
Hands-on AWS, IaC, and cloud cost awareness.
Experience taking ML or scientific models into production.

Responsibilities

Design and build a unified data platform on AWS for ingestion, storage, and access across teams.
Develop and maintain automated data ingestion pipelines from APIs, hardware feeds, and imagery.
Package, deploy, and monitor models and data services with versioning and runbooks.
Provide accessible datasets and query tools for operations and product teams.
