Job summary

Sony Pictures Entertainment is seeking a data engineer to design and build scalable ELT pipelines powering analytics, reporting, and AI/ML applications across SPE. The role focuses on ingestion, modeling, and delivering ready-to-use datasets for stakeholders in television production, distribution, and marketing.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in analytics/data engineering, strong SQL/Python skills, and experience with modern cloud data platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, or related fields.
• 5+ years in analytics engineering, data engineering, or related role in production.
• Experience with TV/film/media analytics data sources and platforms.
• Familiarity with industry data providers (IMDb, Gracenote, Nielsen) is desirable.
• Advanced SQL and Python; dbt experience preferred.
• Cloud data platforms (Snowflake, GCP/BigQuery, AWS/Redshift) and orchestration tools.
• CI/CD workflows, version control, and automated testing for data quality.
• Exposure to generative AI and applying AI-driven approaches to data pipelines.
• Strong communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Analytics Engineering: Translate business requests into robust data models and metrics using dbt and SQL.
• Data Engineering: Ingest data sources into Snowflake with IT and cloud ops collaboration.
• Cross-Functional Delivery: Work with product managers, data scientists, and BI teams to deliver datasets for reporting and analytics.
