Job summary

PSECU Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union is seeking a Data Platform Engineer to own Snowflake reliability and modern data stack operations. The role focuses on costing, orchestration, automation, monitoring, and secure access in a hybrid on-site/remote setup.

You will drive platform upgrades, migrations, and governance, collaborating with SecOps and NetOps to deliver a scalable, auditable cloud data platform for the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 5+ years in data platform, DataOps, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure engineering.
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education accepted.
  • Experience in financial services, banking, insurance, or similar industry.
  • Hands-on Snowflake administration in production not required.
  • SnowPro certification or equivalent knowledge mentioned as N/A.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the Snowflake environment, including warehouse configuration, performance and query optimization.
  • Own platform cost management, tagging and attribution of compute, storage, and pipeline costs by domain and initiative; monitor consumption and report.
  • Build and operate orchestration, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code for data workloads to enable safe deployments.
  • Operate platform observability: pipeline monitoring, data freshness tracking, alerts, runbooks, post-incident reviews.
  • Implement and operate RBAC for the data platform in coordination with SecOps/NetOps.
  • Plan and execute migrations, ensure disaster recovery, backup, and compliance evidence.

The Data Platform Engineer owns the day-to-day reliability, operability, and cost efficiency of the cloud data platform, centered on Snowflake and the modern data stack. The role administers the platform; builds and operates orchestration, deployment automation, monitoring, and access implementation; owns consumption cost management; and executes database and platform migrations through their lifecycle. It operates within identity, network, and security controls owned by SecOps and NetOps, consolidating platform administration duties that are scattered today into one accountable, auditable role.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am -4pm or 9am - 5pm. This position will be a hybrid model both in person and remote with minimum of onsite expectation of 40% or as needed.

In this position, you will Administer the Snowflake environment, including warehouse configuration, performance and query optimization, environment management, and platform upgrades. Own platform cost management, including tagging and attribution of compute, storage, and pipeline costs by domain and initiative; consumption monitoring and reporting; and workload optimization. Build and operate orchestration, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code for data workloads, providing safe, repeatable deployment for engineering teams. Operate platform observability: pipeline monitoring, data freshness tracking, alerting, incident response runbooks, and post-incident reviews. Implement and operate role-based access control for the data platform in partnership with Information Security, following organization-owned identity and access processes. Plan and execute database and platform migrations based on lifecycle and readiness, validating with dependent teams before retirement of prior environments. Maintain disaster recovery, backup, and compliance evidence for the data platform. Provide platform guardrails, tooling, and knowledge transfer that raise the cloud-platform proficiency of engineering teams and enable safe use of the governed environment.
