Job summary

Toyota Financial Services (TFS) Data Platform Engineering team is seeking a Data Platform Engineer to build and support scalable data platform capabilities across the enterprise. You will implement reliable data services, APIs, and cloud infrastructure using Snowflake and AWS, with a focus on security and reliability.

You'll collaborate with architects, software and data engineers, and business partners to deliver high-performing, maintainable platform solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years of software, data or platform engineering experience.
• Strong Python programming experience.
• Hands-on Snowflake experience.
• Working knowledge of AWS services relevant to data platforms.
• Experience with API development and service integration.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture.
• Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines.
• Practical Docker and Kubernetes experience.
• Knowledge of security and operational reliability practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support data platform components, services, and integrations using Python.
• Build and maintain data workflows, data services, and platform utilities in Snowflake and AWS.
• Design and implement APIs for data access and service integration.
• Contribute to microservices-based solutions and orchestration.
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, tests, and deployments.
• Work with Docker and Kubernetes for containerized deployment and runtime operations.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure scalable, secure, and reliable solutions.
• Troubleshoot platform, data, and integration issues across the stack.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and documentation updates.
• Follow engineering standards and security practices; support production readiness and monitoring.
• Incrementally improve platform reliability and performance.

The primary responsibility of this role is to build, enhance, and support scalable data platform capabilities that enable analytics, application integration, and data-driven solutions across the enterprise. This role focuses on implementing reliable data services, APIs, cloud-based infrastructure components, and automation patterns using Snowflake, AWS, Python, and modern DevOps practices. The Data Platform Engineer works closely with architects, software engineers, data engineers, and business partners to deliver secure, maintainable, and high-performing platform solutions.

What you’ll be doing

• Develop and support data platform components, services, and integrations using Python.
• Build and maintain data workflows, data services, and platform utilities in Snowflake and AWS environments.
• Design and implement APIs that support data access, service integration, and platform interoperability.
• Contribute to microservices-based solutions and support orchestration across services.
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes.
• Work with Docker and Kubernetes to support containerized deployment and runtime operations.
• Partner with engineering teams to ensure platform solutions are scalable, resilient, secure, and supportable.
• Troubleshoot application, data, integration, and infrastructure issues across the platform stack.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and documentation updates.
• Follow engineering standards, security practices, and operational best practices.
• Support production readiness, monitoring, and issue resolution for platform services.
• Help improve platform reliability, performance, and maintainability through incremental enhancements.

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or platform engineering.
• Strong experience in Python programming.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake.

• Working knowledge of AWS services relevant to data and application platforms.
• Experience in API development and service integration.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture.
• Experience supporting or orchestrating microservices using CI/CD pipelines.
• Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of software engineering and data platform delivery practices.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in complex environments.

Added bonus if you have

• Experience in data platform engineering, data services, or cloud-based data ecosystems.
• Familiarity with SQL and cloud data architecture patterns.
• Exposure to workflow automation, deployment tooling, and DevOps practices.
• Experience with observability tools, logging, monitoring, and alerting.
• Understanding of security, performance tuning, and operational reliability practices.
• Familiarity with agile development practices and cross-functional delivery teams.
