Job summary

Teradata is seeking a senior data plane architect to own the Postgres engine, storage model, WAL handling, and extension framework within the Agentic Database data plane. You will define end-to-end architecture and lead a Technical PoC against live workloads.

You will collaborate across Teradata Fabric, Context Engine, and AgentStack, mentor engineers, and drive architectural trade-offs for performance, scalability, and durability. A BS/MS in CS and 12+ years in distributed systems are expected.

Qualifications

• Deep, hands-on Postgres expertise: source-level understanding of query planner, storage layer, WAL, MVCC, vacuum, and extension API.
• Experience navigating and modifying large C codebases and reading Postgres source for performance analysis.
• Proficiency in systems programming with C/C++ for data plane work; familiarity with Go, Python, Ruby for control plane and tooling.
• Solid understanding of storage engine trade-offs and their impact on OLTP workloads.
• BS/MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent production-depth experience.

Responsibilities

• Own the data plane architecture end-to-end: define end-to-end architecture, storage model, and extension framework for the Agentic Database.
• Lead the Technical PoC: design the test harness, select workloads, define success criteria, run benchmarks, document findings.
• Serve as technical authority in architecture reviews and cross-team collaboration, ensuring maintainability over velocity.
• Mentor senior engineers on database internals, distributed systems, and production-quality standards.
