Job summary

LMI in Tysons, VA seeks a Data Operations Technical Lead to organize a team of data scientists and engineers for a DoD-focused data platform. You will architect and manage end-to-end data pipelines, enforce data standards, and drive AI/ML initiatives to deliver insights for risk management.

The role requires strong leadership, cloud and CI/CD experience, and deep data governance knowledge, with a hybrid work arrangement in a federal context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, data science, engineering, logistics or related field.
• 5+ years in data engineering/science/architecture with 2+ years in a lead role.
• Experience building/operating data pipelines with ETL/ELT and cloud platforms.
• Strong SQL and at least one data language (Python, R, Scala) incl. production AI/ML.
• Experience with Agile and DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, IaC.
• Direct experience in logistics, supply chain or related domains.
• Ability to engage senior stakeholders and translate needs into requirements.
• Knowledge of data governance, metadata, data quality, security/privacy (DoD/fed).
• Active Secret Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of data scientists, engineers and analysts.
• Architect, implement, and maintain end-to-end data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, validation and storage.
• Own Git-based data pipeline development with CI/CD and strict standards.
• Define data models, metadata, dictionaries, lexicons and business rules.
• Design and oversee AI/ML solutions to derive actionable insights.
• Implement data quality frameworks and metrics for accuracy and timeliness.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate mission needs into scalable data solutions.
• Lead design and optimization of data infrastructure to support analytics and AI workloads.
• Demonstrate the platform to stakeholders in person and virtually.
