Job summary

The Sentio Group, in partnership with a major American manufacturing enterprise, seeks a Manager of Data Operations to build a complete data governance function from the ground up.

You will design governance frameworks, own metadata/cataloging/lineage/security, and stand up a data governance council with domain owners and stewards. Strong executive communication is essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data operations, data management, or governance.
• 5+ years in a leadership/management capacity.
• Hands-on enterprise data governance build experience.
• Experience with governance/metadata tooling (Alation, Purview, Collibra, or similar).
• Experience running a governance council or equivalent cross-functional body.

Responsibilities

• Lead the build of enterprise data governance from the ground up.
• Own metadata management, data cataloging, lineage, access, and security.
• Establish and run a data governance council with domain owners and stewards.
• Administer data within a Microsoft Fabric environment (Synapse, Spark pools, Fabric Lakehouse).
• Partner directly with senior stakeholders and executives to drive adoption.

We're partnering with a major American manufacturing enterprise to find a Manager of Data Operations to build their enterprise data governance function from the ground up.This isn't a maintenance role - it's a build role. You'll design and stand up data governance frameworks, policies, and standards, own the metadata/cataloging/lineage/security stack, and stand up a data governance council with real domain-owner and steward accountability.

Responsibilities:

• 8+ years in data operations, data management, or governance; 5+ years in a leadership/management capacity
• Real, hands-on experience building enterprise data governance — not just reporting compliance
• Familiarity with governance/metadata tooling (Alation, Purview, Collibra, or similar)
• Experience running a governance council or equivalent cross-functional body
• Microsoft Fabric exposure a strong plus
• Excellent executive and stakeholder communication skills
