Job summary

Patriot Talent Solutions seeks a Data Governance Engineer in Knoxville, TN for a contract-to-hire, hybrid role requiring at least two onsite days per week. You will help build and operationalize an enterprise governance function and own data catalog, lineage, metadata, quality, stewardship, and certification initiatives.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of hands-on data governance, experience with Purview or similar platforms, and strong collaboration with data engineering and business partners

• Hands-on with data catalogs, lineage, metadata management, data quality, stewardship, and dataset certification.
• Experience with Microsoft Purview; Collibra, Alation, Informatica are relevant.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Azure, data lakes, data warehouses.

Responsibilities

• Build and operationalize enterprise Data Governance processes, standards, and workflows.
• Administer and improve data catalog, metadata, glossary, lineage, and certification capabilities.
• Establish data quality requirements, stewardship practices, and data ownership models.
• Partner with Data Engineering to embed governance into modern data pipelines and platforms.
• Work with business data owners and stewards to improve data quality, discoverability, and trust.
• Help evaluate, configure, and implement Data Governance technology.
• Facilitate governance working sessions and drive adoption across technical and business teams.

Knoxville, TN | Data Governance Engineer | Full-time | Contract-to-Hire

We are actively recruiting a Data Governance Engineer for our client in Knoxville, TN . This is a contract-to-hire, hybrid opportunity requiring a minimum of 2 days onsite per week . This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Data Governance professional to help build and operationalize an enterprise governance function from the ground up. Must have 5+ years of direct Data Governance experience and hands-on experience with data catalogs, lineage, metadata, data quality, stewardship, and data certification.

What You’ll Do

• Build and operationalize enterprise Data Governance processes, standards, and workflows.
• Administer and improve data catalog, metadata, business glossary, lineage, and certification capabilities.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of hands-on enterprise Data Governance experience.
• Demonstrated ownership of data catalogs, data lineage, metadata management, data quality, stewardship, and dataset certification.
• Experience within a mature Data Governance environment and the ability to apply established governance practices in a developing function.
• Experience with Microsoft Purview strongly preferred; Collibra, Alation, Informatica, or comparable governance platforms also relevant.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Azure, data lakes, data warehouses, or similar modern data platforms preferred.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across business and technical teams.
• Self-directed, comfortable with ambiguity, and motivated by building new capabilities rather than simply maintaining existing processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline preferred.
