Job summary

State of Washington’s Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) seeks an experienced Database Administrator to manage and safeguard DCYF data assets. You will oversee MSSQL administration, security, disaster recovery, and data architecture alignment with enterprise standards.

The role requires strong SQL Server skills, regulatory experience, and collaboration with leadership to leverage data technologies for mission-critical services in Olympia, WA.

Qualifications

• Five years of progressively more complex problem solving experience as a Database Administrator/Architect of large-scale databases with mission critical business functions.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, data management, information systems or related field AND Four years of progressively more complex problem solving experience as a Database Administrator of large-scale databases with mission critical business functions.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the availability, integrity and quality of DCYF databases and related standards, processes and procedures.
• Works with Enterprise Architecture and Development teams to improve database architecture standards and practices.
• Ensures data security via regular audits and compliance with DCYF standards.
• Conducts database code reviews as needed.
• Implements database disaster recovery plans and business continuity.
• Provides consultation to senior management on data technologies and governance.
• Monitors and reports data estate metadata.
• Researches and prototypes upgrades to improve performance and functionality.
• Advices on data management for business continuity planning.
• Analyses and tunes configuration and performance across the data estate.
