About the Role

We are seeking a Data Lineage Technical Analyst to support the documentation and validation of technical data lineage across enterprise systems. This role will focus on tracing data movement through source systems, ETL pipelines, data warehouses, and reporting layers. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in analyzing data flows, working with metadata tools, and collaborating with both technical and business teams to ensure accurate and actionable lineage documentation. This is an execution-focused role requiring strong attention to detail, proficiency in querying and interpreting data transformations, and a foundational understanding of data governance practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze data sources, ETL jobs, and reporting layers to map end-to-end data flows.
• Document technical lineage including data transformations (e.g., SQL queries, stored procedures, Spark logic).
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, System Analysts, and Business Analysts to validate lineage mappings.
• Assist in metadata extraction and ensure lineage accuracy in platforms like Collibra, Informatica, or Azure Purview.
• Support integration of technical lineage into existing data governance tools and workflows.
• Maintain documentation standards and update lineage as systems evolve.
• Escalate gaps or inconsistencies in lineage to the SME or team lead.

Qualifications and Skills:

• 5–10 years of experience in data analysis, ETL processes, or technical systems mapping.
• Strong understanding of data architecture, relational databases, and data warehousing concepts.
• Proficient in querying and analyzing SQL, Python, or similar scripting languages.
• Familiarity with data lineage tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Microsoft Purview, ADO).
• Ability to read and interpret data flow diagrams, technical specs, and transformation logic.
• Experience working in cross-functional teams within data governance or data management initiatives.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation practices.

The pay range for this role is:

80 - 100 USD per hour (Remote (United States))
