Job summary

McGuireWoods LLP is seeking a Database Platform Lead to own and operate the firm’s enterprise Data Lakehouse, coordinating with stakeholders and technology teams to deliver scalable data solutions. You will drive architecture, security, and governance while ensuring reliable data for BI, analytics, and AI use cases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
• Minimum of five years of experience supporting, administering, or owning an enterprise data platform.
• Experience with enterprise data platforms, data integration, data pipelines, or BI environments.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure and Databricks.
• SQL proficiency to query, reconcile data, and troubleshoot loads.
• Understanding of data integration concepts, scheduling, and validation.
• Vendor management experience coordinating support and implementation.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical/data solutions.
• Proven technical/functional leadership without direct management responsibility.
• Experience in platform operations, monitoring, and change management.
• Understanding security, access control, and data protection principles.
• Strong communication and multi-tasking skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and functional leadership for the Data Lakehouse platform.
• Oversee operation, configuration, enhancement, and lifecycle of the platform.
• Work with stakeholders to translate business needs into platform requirements.
• Collaborate with Data Architect to ensure architecture, security, and standards.
• Oversee data integration from Firm apps and approved sources for BI/AI use cases.
• Monitor operations, investigate data loads and discrepancies, coordinate resolution.
• Maintain data validation and reporting processes, reconciling source and target data.
• Act as primary Firm contact for Data Lakehouse vendor relationships.
• Coordinate platform upgrades, releases, changes, testing, and validation.
• Work with security and infra teams to maintain controls and access.
• Maintain platform documentation and transition capabilities to support teams.
• Collaborate with Data Visualization, AI Integration, and development teams.
• Provide guidance to resources on Data Lakehouse initiatives and best practices.
• Stay current with data platforms, cloud tech, automation, and AI trends.
