Job summary

Woven by Toyota’s Data & Labeling Services (DLS) team in Ann Arbor is seeking a software engineer to build and operate scalable production pipelines that turn autonomous vehicle sensor data into high-value labels with HD map features for ML models. You’ll own data engineering, workflows, and data quality, collaborating with ML, perception, and data teams.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of backend and data pipeline experience, strong Python and SQL, Git, and AWS, plus Docker and CI/CD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of professional software development building backend services and data pipelines.
• Strong proficiency in Python and basic knowledge of SQL.
• Growth-oriented mindset and problem-solving ability.
• Proficiency with Git for version control in a collaborative workflow.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, preference for AWS, plus Docker and CI/CD (GitHub Actions).
• Demonstrated passion for backend software development and data engineering.

Responsibilities

• Data and pipeline engineering: build and optimize end-to-end data pipelines ingesting real vehicle data and localizing against HD maps.
• Learn to build and maintain workflow orchestration for long-running production jobs, focusing on reliability and efficiency.
• Collaborate on designing clean data models, schemas, and tooling for accessible insights.
• Quality, testing and operations: apply robust testing strategies across data pipelines (unit/integration/regression).
• Participate in root-cause analysis for pipeline issues to ensure system health and smooth releases.
• Work with ML/robotics/data engineers, annotators, PMs, and map vendors to align on workflows and requirements.
• Take ownership of end-to-end features from design to release.
