Job summary

Saint Luke's Health System is seeking a Data Integrity Specialist to maintain an accurate Master Patient Index and coordinate chart corrections within our EMR. You will analyze and resolve chart correction tickets from EMR and IT ticket systems for hospital and ambulatory cases, collaborating with teams managing various software applications to ensure data integrity across multiple systems.

The role requires HIM experience or a HIM degree, knowledge of MPI, and strong problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze chart correction cases in EMR and Service Now.
  • Facilitate chart corrections with end users to ensure accurate documentation.
  • Analyze and merge potential duplicate MRNs across hospital and ambulatory charts.
  • Verify provider information in EMR work queues and coordinate with IT Security.
  • Review pended transcribed reports and ensure interfaces to EMR.
  • Resolve issues in multiple inbasket folders and work queues related to data integrity.
  • Manage failed fax sends in Right Fax and update provider information for correct delivery.

Job Description

We are seeking a Data Integrity Specialist to join our team! You must have a working knowledge of HIM to be considered for this role. To meet this expectation, you should have prior work experience in HIM or a HIM degree. The entire job description is below. The main objective of this position is to maintain an accurate and concise Master Patient Index as well as coordinate chart correction within our electronic medical record. This position will analyze and resolve chart correction tickets which are submitted via the electronic medical record and or the IT ticket system for both hospital and ambulatory cases. This position will be required to work with various groups that manage different software applications to test and troubleshoot processes to achieve desired outcomes across multiple applications. Works to ensure the integrity of patient demographic and clinical data through the remediation of multiple databases.

Additional Job Description
  • Analyze chart correction cases submitted in EMR and Service Now ticket system.
  • Work with end users to facilitate chart corrections as needed to ensure accurate documentation in the medical record.
  • This team will analyze and facilitate chart correction for both hospital charts and ambulatory clinic charts.
  • Analyze potential duplicate medical record numbers and merge accounts if true duplicates.
  • Merge potential duplicate MRNs from third party applications.
  • This team will verify provider information submitted in various EMR work queues and tickets and send validated information to IT Security team to build record in database.
  • This team will review pended transcribed reports submitted by third party transcription service in order to problem solve issues and complete reports so they interface to EMR.
  • This team will analyze and resolve issues in multiple inbasket folders and work queues related to data integrity.
  • This team will manage failed fax sends in Right Fax application and update provider information as necessary in order to send faxes correctly to recipient.
  • Ability to manage conflict with peers and team members.
  • Ability to work in matrix managed environment receiving direction from multiple managers.
  • Exhibit flexibility, respect, and understanding in providing assistance to others.
  • Ability to identify root causes for MPI related and chart correction problems and processes.
  • An understanding of integration of MPI related applications running inside the organization.
  • An understanding of chart correction processes within EPIC.
  • Processes multiple tasks simultaneously in an ever changing environment.
  • Proficiency in problem identification, analysis and resolution skills.
  • Ability to identify dependencies with other applications and technologies.
  • Ensures confidentiality in handling of all information, verbal and written.
  • Ability to prioritize issues and requests.
  • Performs follow up to ensure chart correction is performed and completed accurately.
