Job summary

The Texas Rangers are seeking an experienced Infrastructure, Applications, and Data Platform Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for the design, administration, security, optimization, and strategic evolution of the organization's core infrastructure, identity services, enterprise applications, databases, and data platforms.

This position combines infrastructure engineering, database administration, application management, and data platform engineering.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in a related technical field.
• 3-5 years of related experience.
• Experience with SQL Server, Windows Server, File Services, VMware/Hyper-V, performance tuning, Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud.
• Strong knowledge of database administration, performance tuning, and security.
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
• Knowledge of ITIL processes and enterprise IT operations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary database administrator for Microsoft SQL Server environments and design, implement, and maintain highly available and secure database platforms.
• Manage SQL Server installations and upgrades, PostgreSQL, AWS RDS, Google Cloud Platform Databases, patching, backups, disaster recovery, and high-availability technologies.
• Monitor database performance, availability, storage, and growth; develop maintenance plans and operational standards.
• Implement database security controls, auditing, encryption, and compliance requirements.
• Support data integration, ETL processes, and application data services.
• Collaborate with application owners and stakeholders to improve data availability and usability.
• Administer and support Tableau Server and Tableau environments; develop governance standards for reporting and analytics.
