Job summary

Chime Financial, Inc is seeking a Data Infrastructure Engineer in San Francisco to join a small, high‑leverage team within Infrastructure Engineering. You will build and operate the platform that powers data workflows at scale, deploying Airflow and Flink environments and managing DynamoDB and RDS infrastructure.

The base salary starts at $133,000 and goes up to $184,000, with bonus, equity, and benefits. You’ll work across data engineering deployment and storage layers, collaborating with teams

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of software engineering experience with a focus on infrastructure, platform, or backend systems.
• Hands‑on production experience with Terraform and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with AWS, particularly DynamoDB and RDS.
• Strong programming skills in Python or a similar language.
• Systems-thinking mindset—design for reliability, scalability and maintainability.
• Ability to work autonomously on ambiguous problems and communicate across teams.
• Experience with data ingestion and ETL pipelines is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain deployment infrastructure for Data Engineering workflows (Airflow, Flink).
• Own and operate core storage technologies (DynamoDB, RDS).
• Write infrastructure‑as‑code using Terraform and manage workloads on Kubernetes.
• Partner with Data Engineering to translate needs into scalable infrastructure solutions.
• Drive reliability improvements across the platform (observability, capacity planning, operational hygiene).
• Participate in full lifecycle of infra changes (design, build, test, ship).
• Help shape Data Infra team scaling practices as Chime grows.
