Job summary

About The Role

You’ll join the Data Infra team in Chime’s Infrastructure Engineering organization, building and operating the foundational platform for Data Engineering. This includes managing deployment layers (Airflow, Flink) and storage services (DynamoDB, RDS). The role blends deployment and storage responsibilities, ensuring reliable, scalable infrastructure.

What You’ll Do

• Build and maintain deployment infrastructure for Data Engineering workflows, including Airflow, Flink, and partner environments.
• Own and operate core storage technologies—DynamoDB and RDS—for data engineering and platform teams.
• Write infrastructure‑as‑code using Terraform and manage Kubernetes workloads in production.
• Partner closely with Data Engineering to translate needs into scalable, reliable infrastructure solutions.
• Improve platform reliability through observability, capacity planning, and operational hygiene.
• Participate in the full lifecycle of infrastructure changes: design, build, test, and ship.
• Help shape how the Data Infra team scales its practices as Chime grows.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of software engineering experience focused on infrastructure, platform, or backend systems.
• Hands‑on production experience with Terraform and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with AWS, especially managed database services such as DynamoDB and RDS.
• Strong programming skills in Python or a similar language.
• A systems‑thinking mindset, designing for reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Ability to work autonomously on ambiguous problems and communicate clearly across teams.
• Experience with data ingestion and ETL pipelines is a strong plus.

Compensation

Base salary for this role ranges from $133,000 to $184,000, varying by location, skills, and experience. Full‑time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits.
