Overview

We are seeking a skilled Data Governance Specialist with demonstrated competency in project execution, leadership, critical thinking, relationship management, and solving complex challenges while upholding the highest standard of ethical behavior. This position will support the Chief Data and Analytics Officer (CDAO) within the Defense Health Agency (DHA) to transform complex data into actionable insights, driving informed decision-making processes in healthcare delivery.

Responsibilities

Providing direct support to the Defense Health Agency (DHA), this Data Governance Specialist will:

* Develop and implement comprehensive data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
* Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and standards.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to define and enforce data management and governance principles.
* Conduct regular assessments and audits to ensure data quality and integrity.
* Oversee data access and security protocols, ensuring the confidentiality and protection of sensitive information.
* Facilitate training and workshops to educate staff on data governance best practices.
* Identify, analyze, and mitigate data-related risks and issues.
* Support the integration of data governance activities into the overall data management strategy.
* Lead initiatives to enhance data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across the organization.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of data governance activities and documentation.
* Provide guidance and expertise on data governance matters to cross-functional teams.
* Support the development of data stewardship programs and roles within the organization.
* Monitor emerging trends and technologies in data governance and recommend improvements to existing practices.

Qualifications

**Mininum:**

* Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Data Management, or a related field.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related role.
* Proven experience in developing and implementing data governance frameworks and policies.
* Strong knowledge of data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and industry standards.
* Proficiency in data management tools and technologies.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
* Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
* Experience conducting data quality assessments and audits.
* Ability to lead and facilitate training sessions and workshops.
* Familiarity with data security protocols and practices.
* Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
* Professional certifications in data governance or related areas (e.g., CDMP, DGSP) are a plus.
* Demonstrated ability to uphold high standards of ethical behavior.

**Preferred:**

* Advanced degree in Information Technology, Data Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
* Experience with federal government or healthcare data governance initiatives.
* Knowledge of data governance best practices, tools, and methodologies.
* Experience with data management platforms such as Informatica, Collibra, or similar.
* Strong understanding of database systems, data architecture, and data modeling.
* Experience in managing data governance programs in a cloud environment.
* Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
* Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Experience with metadata management and data lineage analysis.
* Knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence principles as they relate to data governance.
* Familiarity with agile project management methodologies.
* Experience with regulatory compliance in the healthcare sector.
* Ability to drive data culture and advocate for data governance across the organization.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and inspire others.

The target salary range is- $99,161.74-$171,168.42
