Job description

Zions Bancorporation’s Enterprise Technology and Operations (ETO) team is transforming what it means to work for a financial institution. With a commitment to technology and innovation, we have been providing our community, clients and colleagues the best experience possible for over 150 years. Help us transform our workforce of the future, today.

We are seeking a collaborative and results-driven Data Governance Manager to join Zions Bancorporation. Leading our Data Governance & Quality Management team, you will champion robust data practices across the business by establishing and enforcing clear enterprise data standards and performing continuous analysis to empower data stewards and ensure the highest levels of data quality are maintained.

As the Data Governance Manager, you will lead a dedicated team of Data Governance Analysts and Data Quality Analysts, overseeing the operational implementation of data governance frameworks and directly managing the lifecycle of data quality. You will partner closely with business and technical stakeholders across bank divisions, drive process improvements, and foster operational excellence.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Data Governance Analysts and Data Quality Analysts, providing day-to-day guidance, workload prioritization, coaching, and performance management.
  • Foster a strong culture of business-facing data stewardship, empowering distributed stewards across lines of business with the training, tools, and best practices needed to maintain high-quality data assets.
  • Own and manage the end-to-end Data Quality program for supported business domains, including the development, testing, implementation, and scheduled monitoring of data quality rules.
  • Establish, monitor, and report on data quality metrics to identify anomalies, evaluate root causes, and drive issue remediation.
  • Ensure data governance and quality processes adhere strictly to enterprise standards, internal controls, and regulatory expectations.
  • Support the rollout, operationalization, and continuous improvement of the corporate data governance framework across business and functional areas.
  • Plan and execute data governance initiatives and project milestones, coordinating effectively across technical architecture, IT engineering, and business unit counterparts.
  • Evaluate and implement tools, templates, and operational solutions that automate data cataloging, lineage tracking, metadata management, and quality profiling.
  • Interface collaboratively with department managers, business process owners, and technical teams to align governance priorities with business objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to refine and modernize departmental procedures, standards, workflows, and operating documentation.
  • Support department leadership in tracking project deliverables, team capacity, and operational reporting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field required; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • 6+ years of professional experience in data management, data governance, or data quality analysis.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated leadership, supervisory, or team mentorship experience.
  • Core Governance & Quality Knowledge: Strong, demonstrated working knowledge of data governance principles, data quality management (rule development, monitoring, root-cause remediation), metadata management, and data lifecycle processes.
  • Data Quality & Issues Management: Establish, monitor, and report on data quality metrics to identify anomalies and non-compliance; issue data governance and quality findings when appropriate; and drive root cause analysis, assignment of accountable remediation owners, corrective action, and resolution of identified root causes and impacts.
  • Analytical & Technical Acumen: Solid understanding of data analysis techniques, data systems, and SQL/relational data concepts. Familiarity with modern data governance and data catalog platforms (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica, or similar) is advantageous.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to translate complex data issues into actionable business terms and interface effectively across both business and technical groups.
  • Organization & Execution: Strong organizational and task prioritization skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgment and deliver high-quality outcomes within established timelines.
  • Problem Resolution: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of identifying operational bottlenecks and implementing creative, structured solutions.
