Shelter Insurance in Columbia, Missouri, is seeking a Data Governance Manager to establish and maintain an effective data governance framework, ensuring data quality, integrity and security across our data assets.

The role focuses on enabling data-driven decision‑making, promoting data stewardship, and complying with data privacy laws in the insurance sector. A minimum of 10+ years in data governance is required, with on-site collaboration at our corporate office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in data management, information systems, privacy law or related field preferred.
• 10+ years in data governance, data management or related role, preferably in insurance/financial services.
• Strong understanding of data governance principles, data management practices, regulatory compliance (GDPR, CCPA).
• Familiarity with data governance frameworks (DAMA-DMBOK) and industry standards.
• Experience with data governance policies, procedures and standards.
• Knowledge of data privacy and security regulations and best practices.
• Strong project management and stakeholder collaboration skills.
• Detail-oriented with focus on data accuracy and quality.
