Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in data management, information systems, privacy law or a related field is preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in data governance or data management, preferably in insurance or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of data governance principles, management practices, and regulatory compliance (GDPR, CCPA).
• Familiarity with data governance frameworks (DAMA-DMBOK) and industry standards.
• Experience with data governance tools and technologies such as data cataloging, metadata management, and data lineage tools.
• Experience building and implementing governance policies, procedures, and standards.
• Knowledge of data privacy and security regulations and best practices.
• Strong project management and stakeholder collaboration skills.
• Excellent communication and attention to detail.

Data Governance Manager

$113,687 – $140,972 / year minimum starting pay

Job Level: Manager

Location: Columbia, Missouri (On-site, Full-time)

Shelter maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in geographic location, education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. Please remember that this range is the starting base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position.

Establish and maintain an effective data governance framework and ensure the integrity, quality, and security of our data assets. Play a crucial role in enabling data-driven decision-making, promoting data stewardship, and ensuring compliance with data-related regulations and policies.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in data management, information systems, privacy law or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience (10+ years) in data governance, data management, or a related role, preferably in the insurance or financial services industry typically required.
• Strong understanding of data governance principles, data management practices, and regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
• Knowledge of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK) and industry standards for data management.
• Familiarity with data governance tools and technologies, such as data cataloging tools, metadata management tools, and data lineage tools.
• Experience in developing and implementing data governance policies, procedures, and standards.
• Knowledge of data privacy and security regulations and best practices for data protection.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead and manage data governance initiatives.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
