Role: Data Governance Lead (Workday)

Location: Remote (EST)

Duration: 18 months (high possibility of extension)

CIPP/E Certified (if someone has US equivalent-CIPP/US, its ok)

Position Summary:

Seeking a Data Governance Lead, Human Resources to lead and manage organization-wide HR data governance activities related to HR data and will have responsibility for improving the quality and managing the protection of sensitive data and information assets.

  • Technical piece: come from GDP or compliance qualifications CIPP/

  • Data warehousing / data lake experience
  • Workday experience is strongly desired

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create Records of Processing: Develop and maintain comprehensive records of data processing activities within the HR function to ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Implement Data Retention Criteria: Establish and enforce data retention policies and criteria in Workday and EDL (Enterprise Data Lake) to ensure data is stored and disposed of in accordance with legal and organizational requirements.
  • Improve Data Quality: Identify and address data quality issues, implement data quality improvement initiatives, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of HR data.
  • Data Governance Framework: Assist in the development and implementation of a data governance framework, including policies, procedures, and standards for data management within HR.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with HR, IT, and other stakeholders to ensure data governance practices are aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to HR staff on data governance policies and best practices.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven experience in managing projects for data governance, data management, or a similar role, preferably within an HR environment.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance principles, data protection regulations, and data quality management and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of the technology landscape. Even better if it includes data platforms, warehouses and BI Analytics in general.
  • Very comfortable collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders in multiple disciplines, levels, and organizations, to manage deliver change.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a complex organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information management, Data Science, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Data governance or data management certifications (e.g., CDMP, DGSP) are highly desirable.
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) certification or similar, a distinct advantage.
