Job summary

Chime is seeking a Data Governance Engineer to design and implement governance, quality, and cataloging technologies across our data platforms. You will build and operationalize trust signals, scorecards, and product-minded data governance practices that enable high-confidence decision making and compliant data usage.

You will work hands-on with Terraform and Python, partner with data engineering, analytics, and compliance teams, and contribute to scalable governance workflows while championing

Qualifications

• Hands-on engineering role focusing on governance, quality, and compliance.
• 5+ years in data engineering/governance with practical tooling experience.
• Proficiency in Python or similar for building automation.
• Experience designing policy, lineage, and trustworthy data products.
• Knowledge of SOX and regulatory considerations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build trust signals, scorecards, and data quality indicators.
• Develop governance policies for data classification, lifecycle, and controls.
• Automate governance processes including metadata management and lineage.
• Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and compliance officers.
• Advocate and pilot AI tooling within data governance initiatives.
