Job summary

Thread Bank in Nashville is seeking a Data Governance Analyst to manage the data catalog, quality reporting, and regulatory documentation. You will serve as the working steward of the catalog and support the Enterprise Data Governance Council to ensure accurate classifications, retention, and access controls.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in data governance, data management, IT audit, GRC, or related role.
• Working knowledge of data governance concepts including data classification, ownership, retention, and access controls.
• Hands-on experience with a data catalog, metadata management, or governance platform.
• Ability to read a database schema and write basic SQL queries.
• General awareness of U.S. banking regulations including GLBA and willingness to deepen knowledge on the job.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills.
• Must be detail oriented with high ownership and accuracy.
• Nashville-based in-office position.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the Bank’s data element register and business glossary in the enterprise data catalog with definitions and regulatory tags.
• Keep data owner and steward assignments current and onboard new owners to responsibilities.
• Maintain data classification docs and inventories across systems and reconcile with the catalog.
• Review data lineage and metadata propagation; log defects and work with Data Engineering to resolve them.
• Produce monthly data quality dashboards and quarterly governance metrics for the council.
• Monitor data quality checks and triage failures, routing issues to the steward and tracking remediation.
• Maintain the data governance issue log and track remediation.
• Support the Enterprise Data Governance Council by building materials, drafting memos, and recording decisions.
• Assist with Microsoft 365 governance controls and monitor adherence post-implementation.
• Conduct periodic governance assessments of bank systems and coordinate access reviews with owners.
• Collect evidence for audits and maintain control documentation; coordinate day-to-day with IT, InfoSec, and Compliance.
• Maintain runbooks for recurring tasks and assist cross-functionally with Data Engineering, IT Operations, and Compliance.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
