Job Summary

The responsibilities include entering patient information into our software program. It involves accessing various electronic medical records systems. We are looking for a candidate who can type 50+ words per minute with accuracy and provide our customers with the highest quality product and customer service. Must always safeguard and protect the patient's right to privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to the patient's medical information and that all releases of information comply with requests, authorization, company policy, and HIPAA regulations.

Essential Functions:

  • Accurately entering patient information into our software program
  • Access various electronic medical records systems
  • Provide a high level of customer service

Qualifications:

  • Experience in a medical records office environment helpful but not required; training will be provided.
  • Computer literate — general working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required
  • Ability to type 50+ wpm
  • Focused on high-quality work

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods
  • Physical ability to lift and carry 25 lbs of materials
  • Manual dexterity and strength to enter information via computer keyboard for extended periods, write notes, and hold paperwork and supplies
  • Sufficient eyesight to read documents and view information on a computer monitor
  • Effective speaking and hearing abilities
  • Eye/hand coordination, hearing, and visual acuity for daily tasks

Information Governance Accountabilities:

  • Understanding of the organization’s information governance program and role-specific responsibilities
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, and processes affecting data integrity and organizational goals
  • Willingness to discuss questions and process improvements
  • Participation in required training for compliance and role-specific tasks

HIPAA/Compliance:

  • Maintain privacy of all patient, employee, and volunteer information, accessed only on a need-to-know basis
  • Comply with regulations regarding corporate integrity and security
  • Report unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful activities
  • Maintain current HIPAA certification annually
