City of Montclair Police Department is seeking a non-sworn, part-time clerical worker. The role involves 25-30 hours per week with no fringe benefits, performing data entry, typing police reports, filing, and related duties in a busy office setting.
Responsibilities include transcribing reports, reviewing citations for accuracy, processing records, handling phones, and liaising with the courts about citations.
This is a non-sworn, part-time position assigned to the Police Department working 25-30 hours per week with no fringe benefits. Under general supervision performs clerical and filing duties of moderate difficulty; performs data entry; types police reports; and performs related duties as required.
Uses computer to perform data entry and data base searches; classifies and files reports and citations; transcribes police reports; reviews citations and other documents for accuracy; sorts and processes citations and necessary correction documents; places records in numerical order; acts as liaison with the courts regarding citation processing; answers telephones; operates various office equipment, including, but not limited to, computer, fax, photocopier, and shredder; and performs other duties as assigned.
Graduation from high school or G.E.D. required. Previous experience in the above duties is highly desirable.
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting including use of standard office equipment, including a computer; to operate a motor vehicle; to visit various City sites; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May be exposed to outside weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, and other conditions. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 50 pounds.
