Shelter Insurance Companies in Columbia, Missouri is seeking a Data Engineering & Operations Lead to own the data warehouse architecture, design, and maintenance using Snowflake, AWS, and Qlik tools to deliver scalable analytics.

The role requires 7+ years of data engineering experience, a Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS or related field, and strong SQL/Python data manipulation skills. This is an on-site, full-time position with a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field preferred.
7+ years of experience as a Data Engineering Practitioner.
Proficiency with Qlik Replicate, Qlik Compose, DBTLabs & Astronomer for data integration and transformation.
Solid understanding of data engineering, data modeling, ETL, and data warehousing concepts.
Snowflake expertise including ingestion, storage, performance optimization, and security.
Experience with AWS/Azure cloud platforms and cloud data solutions.
Familiarity with data quality, governance, and lifecycle management.

Data Engineering & Operations Lead

$113,687 - $140,972 / year minimum starting pay

Job Level: Supervisor

Location: Columbia, Missouri (On-site, Full-time)

Shelter maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in geographic location, education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. What You Will Be Doing

Responsible for architecture & design, implementation, and maintenance of data warehouse operations. Expertise in Snowflake, AWS and Qlik tools is required to ensure efficient and scalable data storage, processing, and analytics.

What We're Looking For

Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field is preferred.
Proven experience (7+ years) as a Data Engineering Practitioner typically required.
Proficiency in Qlik Replicate, Compose, DBTLabs & Astronomer for data integration, replication, and transformation.
Strong understanding of data engineering principles, data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
Expertise in Snowflake, including data ingestion, storage, performance optimization, and security.
Experience with cloud platforms, such as AWS or Azure, and working with cloud-based data solutions and services.
Familiarity with data quality, data governance, and data lifecycle management practices.
Solid programming skills in SQL and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for data manipulation and automation.
Knowledge of dbtLabs, Astronomer, Github is preferred
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, with the ability to diagnose and resolve data engineering issues.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
