Job summary

Applied Systems seeks a Manager, Software Engineering to lead a newly formed data engineering team at the heart of AI-driven initiatives. You will shape data practices across AMS platforms and partner with Product, Architecture, and Engineering leaders to build a data ecosystem from the ground up.

You will coach engineers, drive SQL optimization, data modeling, and cloud data stack on GCP. The role supports remote work with occasional in-person meetings, emphasizing AI-assisted engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Extensive experience with SQL in cloud data warehouses and data modeling.
• Strong leadership and coaching experience in engineering teams.
• Proven ability to drive AI-assisted engineering workflows and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineers driving data engineering standards across Applied's platforms.
• Drive high-visibility, cross-functional initiatives with Product, Architecture, and Engineering teams.
• Build and standardize data engineering practices for a new team, shaping the discipline from scratch.
• Provide hands-on guidance in SQL optimization, data modeling, and GCP data/streaming stack.
• Champion AI-assisted and agentic engineering workflows to boost productivity.
• Balance hands-on technical leadership with people management and coaching.
