Job Summary

The Data Engineering Manager plays a pivotal role in operationalizing and advancing data and analytics for CareOregon’s clinical initiatives. Responsibilities include managing a team focused on building, managing, and optimizing data pipelines, ensuring compliance with data governance and security, and monitoring data integrity within the division.

Essential Responsibilities

• Manage team responsibilities around creating, maintaining, and optimizing data pipelines for production use.
• Lead efforts in data ingestion, integration, and consumption for specific use cases.
• Utilize innovative tools and techniques to automate tasks, reduce errors, and improve productivity.
• Partner with IS leadership to ensure compliance with data governance policies and improve data quality.
• Assess and enhance data quality and availability for the division.
• Proactively resolve data quality issues and communicate their impact to business leadership.
• Collaborate with data analysts, scientists, and other consumers to refine data requirements.
• Train users on data pipelines and preparation techniques.
• Propose innovative data ingestion and operationalization techniques.
• Promote CareOregon’s data capabilities and collaborate with staff and leadership on leveraging data for business goals.

Minimum Requirements

• At least 6 years of relevant experience, including data ETL, working with tools like Snowflake and Databricks, and experience with multi-source data.
• Experience analyzing data quality and engaging stakeholders.
• Experience in healthcare payer or managed care organizations is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Data management experience in healthcare.
• Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Python, or SAS.
• At least 1 year managing data engineering or quality teams.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Deep knowledge of SQL, data analysis, emerging data technologies, and healthcare concepts. Strong skills in designing and managing data pipelines, working with large datasets, communicating effectively, and leading teams. Ability to collaborate, prioritize, and continuously learn.

Working Conditions

Remote work from home, occasional outside hours, with potential travel. No direct patient interaction.
